Brooke didn’t want to live at Alchemy Lounge-a large gothic industrial almost blue grass kind of building-that her friends had described as seriously cool with just enough grunge. Her friends didn’t speak a language that she understood. Actually, no one spoke Brooke’s language which was the language of water.

To Brooke life either rose or fell in streams. Of late these streams had unfortunately come to sound like screams.

The penultimate reason- Brooke was moving to the Alchemy Lounge was that she knew  the landlord was an Alchemist.  Brooke was an intern at the Jungian institute and had found Alchemy to be bloody marvelous. In fact she had told her current soon to be ex lover, Jal, that Alchemy had saved her life.

Even so Brooke had a feelling that it would be wiser to befriend the landlord, Kerey.

But befriending Kerey had not worked out as she had hoped.  They both were doing Nano.  Nano was where gazillions of people all over the world take the month of November to write a novel of 50,000 words.  Brooke was thrilled when she learned that Kerey spent a fair amount of time on the Nano boards and posted quite often.

She had written to him several times under her Nano Name which was Mistress A Muse.  Kerey had written back that if she wanted to talk she would have to move to his Alchemy Lounge. Brooke had thought he was kidding.  She wrote several fecund flowing ferociously fun e-males to him but he was consistent and not flowing at all. I only let those live at Alchemy Lounge that are ready for Alchemy.  Dear Brooke, I invite you to become a resident of Alchemy Lounge.  Only you know if your ready.

Kerey’s last e-male had read “I pulled the Tarot Card the Fool when I thought of you.  Do you dare to take the next leap Brooke or will you drown?”

Brooke decided that she would become a resident of Alchemy Lounge.  She also decided that when she moved in she would bring at least one waterfall with her.

She wondered how many stairs she would have to climb with a waterfall to her new flat.

“Here lies one whose name was writ in water.”

Keats travelled to Rome and died there, aged just 25, in February, 1821. He told his friend Joseph Severn that he didn’t want his name to appear on his tombstone, but merely this line:

“Here lies one whose name was writ in water.”

Severn honoured that wish, as the gravestone shows – Keats is commemorated just as ‘A young English poet’.
