Not Quite the Ghostly Lover -

one of many possible openings ——–

by Laurel and Aisling

Not Quite the Ghostly Lover she speaks

My last memory is of a the delectable fragrange of a loaf of freshly baked darkly brown bread. I haven’t had this kind of bread in years. The combination of dark and wholesome makes me smile. This smile does not relate to my slightly refurbished hoodlum date. I run my fingers over the sharp crust, edgy,a bit flaky. The sweetly blackened crust surrounds and suppports the moistness of the this bread that I soon will taste. Before I gift myself with the experience of this bread; I reach to slice a triangle of the brown bread for my soon to be lover. I run my fingers down the edge of the sharp achingly cold knife. I feel the air currents collide violently, willing to slice my offering of desire. I see no reflection in the knife, though the silver surface is cleanly polished and clear. The sexy man of the streets, reaches strong coffin carving fingers possessively towards me. He seems to make a brief effort to combine possessiveness with gentle searching, he does not succeed – I am glad.My breasts arch towards our first garnet glass of a stags leap cabernet. His fingers are now exploring my rings quesioningly; I sense a barely held back possessiveness. His body langauge is far too controlling for a first assignation. I remind myself this is the kind of lover I want tonight, may he be damn good in bed. I offer my opening hand willing to play with the sensations his fingers evoke. My body responds as if this contact is a virgin massage, by a masseur who knows what he is doing, after a six months abstinence from massage. A masseur inspired as a lover without overtly crossing any particular lines of no return. It seems I will not be able to finish my offering of a slice of nourishing brown bread. Before I have finished carving the slice from the whole loaf, he, as slowly as a knowing masseur making sure every part of my body awakens. This stranger carefuly separates the sharp blade from my warm fingers.

What Dante wrote about Neptune

“My memory of that moment is more lost than five and twenty centuries make dim that enterprise when, in wonder, Neptune at the Argo’s shadow stared.”

Then Acocella explains: “Focus only on the image. Jason and the Argonauts, in the first ship ever made, are sailing across the ocean on a dangerous mission, to capture the Golden Fleece. Neptune, the god of the ocean, looks up from the seafloor. Through the fathomless depths, he sees a shadow—the boat—and stares at it in wonder. Though he is a god, he has never seen anything like this.”

or has he……………?

This is from a New Yorker Article by Acocdella
One of the books I’m writing is related to Neptune. Coming upon a reference to Dante’s writing on Neptune brought me to what is printed above- within the ocean of the inter net…….

Squaring the Circle

‘Within the depths of divine light, Dante perceives a geometric image of the Holy Trinity. He “sees” three circles of the same circumference with distinct though unspecified colors. One circle appears as the reflection of the other , and the third circle (Spirit) looks like fire breathed equally by the other two . Dante’s final challenge, resolved not on his own but through a flash of divine grace, is to comprehend the perfect fit between a human figure and the second circle in which it appears. This is the theological paradox of the incarnation, two complete natures–human and divine–in a single person . Dante compares his unsuccessful effort to grasp this paradox on his own to that of a geometer who seeks to square the circle: that is, using only a straight edge and a compass, to construct a square with area equal to that of a given circle.’

Exploring Andaliski, Juggling and Maslow’s needs

I just searched for Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs on the web. I’m going to explore Maslow’s needs applied to a character I am creating, here, to see if I can grasp a bit of what you are sharing.

Physiological Needs-

A character named Andaliski never feels like he has a home. Although he’s lived in many homes, he does not feel he ‘knows’ what home means.

Safety Needs

Although Analiski tells himself that he is a somewhat happy vagabond gypsy guy who juggles- he never feels entirely safe. Juggling is the only thing that gives him a sense of life in balance. Juggling has become a metaphor for the way he lives his life.

Needs of Love, Affection and Belongingness

Although he juggles women, trying to keep at least three in the air at all times, he doesn’t understand love. He wants love and thinks that he loves the women. The women don’t feel loved by him. They sense that if only they could get his attention for a wee bit longer he would find that he loves them.

Needs for Esteem

He is a brilliant juggler and can juggle an unusual variety of things in unique ways. He gets much feedback that he is amazing. His self-esteem is in place, almost.

Needs for Self-Actualization

He feels a need to discover who he really is in addition to being a skilled juggler, though he knows that juggling will always play a great part in his life.

How can he desire to know more of who he is if he has never found a home and doesn’t feel particularly safe?

Feedback appreciated.
Thank you
Aisling

non verbal explorations-first attempt

What to Communicate How to Communicate Non-Verbally
1. How would you show that you want something?

I would look at it longingly, linger over it, return to it, point at it, take a deep breath while I gaze at it.

2. How would you show your approval?

I might nod or smile. I might clap my hands. I might raise my eyebrows and nod.

3. How would you show your disapproval?

I might turn away, or frown, or shake my head no. I might step back or place my hands up as if to block whatever might be coming towards me.

4. How would you get someone to sit down where you wanted?

I would take the other seat, or gesture with an open palm, or place something they might wish to read on the seat I’ve chosen.

5. How would you get someone to stop what he or she was doing?

I would step away, shake my head no, possibly take away from them what ever they were holding. I might leave the room or shake them.

6. How would you signal to someone that you needed help?

I would scream without screaming. I might raise my arms as if exasperated by the situation, I might cry or sit down and not get up though cars were coming.

7. How would you act if you wanted someone to leave you alone?

This just happened. I was at the library on the internet. A man passed me a poorly written note that said “I like older women.” My birthday is tomorrow and I was not thrilled with the note. I pointed to my computer and mouthed the words novel and then fully focused on my writing. I did mouth thank you, though i suppose, mouthing the words, without sound, is not actually non-verbal.

I would focus intensely on whatever I was doing.

8. What would you do if you wanted people to think you were self-confident?

Enjoying a tall elegant dancer’s body and moving with grace and a certain sense of being comfortable in my body.

9. How would you show someone that you wanted him or her to be quiet?

I would open my palms as if “give me a f……..break.” I would glare at them. I might put my right finger to my lips but probably not.

10. How would you show someone that you liked him or her?

I would smile an inviting smile. I would attempt to maintain eye contact a wee bit longer than I normally would. I might pantomime some gesture that seemed apropos and flirtatious at the time.

My Solar Return is drawing near

I am exploring scene and seen. We shall see what secrets are ready to be revealed.

Solar Returns are auspicious times to make wishes, a bit like one’s personal New Year.

I am about to teach Yoga while I ponder my premise and the promise  and promises of the year

What is life asking of me?

How can I best respond?

Blessed Be
